Presidential Volunteer Service Award

The Yorba Linda Girl Scout Association is pleased to announce our participation in the President’s Service Award program as a Certifying Organization. The President’s Service Award recognizes individuals, families, and groups that have achieved a certain standard measured by the number of hours served over a 12-month period or cumulative hours earned over the course of a lifetime. To date, the President’s Council has bestowed more than 400,000 awards to the Nation’s deserving volunteers.

To qualify, volunteers simply submit a record of their service hours to the Yorba Linda Girl Scout Association, and we will verify the service and distribute the Award. Service hours can be accumulated through work on a variety of projects throughout the year. The only requirement is that the hours be completed within 12 months; recipients can qualify for a new Award each year. Presidential Volunteer Service Award Award

Any individual can the receive the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for volunteer hours earned over a 12-month period or over the course of a lifetime at home or abroad.

To earn a President's Volunteer Service Award, individuals must keep a record of their activities and hours of volunteer service. The service hours must be submitted to a Certifying Organization who certifies the hours and submits them to the Presential Award Committee. Yorba Linda Girl Scouts is a Certified Organization. logo_cake As part of the Girl Scouts 100th Birthday Celebration in March, 2012, the Girl Scouts of Yorba Linda would like to award 1000 Presidential Awards. You can be a part of this historic celebration by registering today to earn your service hours so you can be awarded at the 100th Girl Scout Birthday celebration.

Any level can be achieved (Bronze, Silver Gold or Lifetime)
Cut off to register for 100th Birthday recognition is 12/1/2010 (in order to complete service in 1 year period)
Deadline to complete service in order to be recognized at 100th birthday - 12/1/2011
Cost to be awarded at Birthday Celebration - $5.00 - Includes award

Award Criteria

The 12-month period does not have to be on a calendar year.
Children: Ages 14 & under	50 to 74 hours	75 to 99 hours	100 hours or more	4,000 hours or more of volunteer service (over a lifetime)
Young Adults: Ages 15-24	100 to 174 hours	175 to 249 hours	250 hours or more	4,000 hours or more of volunteer service (over a lifetime)
Adults: 25 & older	100 to 249 hours	250 to 499 ho	500 hours or more	4,000 hours or more of volunteer service (over a lifetime)
Families and Groups (two or more people)*	200 to 499 hours	500 to 999 hours	1000 hours or more	4,000 hours or more of volunteer service (over a lifetime)
* In families and groups, each member contributing to the total number of hours must have served 25 hours or more.

Certifying Information

Yorba Linda Girl Scouts Association is a Certified Organization. Irene Goodman is our Certifying Agent who approves hours and submits to the Presidential Award Committee. Log on to www.presidentialserviceawards.gov to sign up. Once you have set up your online account, update your profile with the following key code (SBX-7515) to link you to our database so that Irene can certify your hours. You can sign up anytime! If you don’t want to keep track online, just send Irene your list of hours and she'll get them logged in. If you register online, please send Irene an email so that she can verify that you are properly linked to our group. Younger volunteers can earn the California Service Award for 25 hours of service. You can also sign up as a family, troop or other group if you don’t think that any one individual will can reach a particular level on their own. Remember, this award is open to all volunteers – not just Girl Scouts! Keep up the good work! How to track hours: You can track service hours by completing a Service Hour tracking log. Click here to download Tracking Form You can also track hours by creating an account on the Presidential Award Website. Click here to create a login account and track your hours online. When you are ready to turn your hours in, you can download your record to an excel spreadsheet and email to Irene Goodman at imgoodman@att.net Any service hours count towards the award. You can count hours earned for other awards such as Bronze, Silver or Gold awards. Service does not just have to be through Girl Scouts. Church, school or other community groups or clubs can count also towards this award.Important:

Volunteers under the age of 15 are not allowed to open online accounts directly. For these volunteers you have 2 options:
1) track their hours manually and then submit them to Irene and she will enter them and certify them
2) send Irene their names and she will set up accounts for each of them, then an adult in your troop can be responsible for entering all their hours

Anyone 15 years of age or older can create their accounts directly.
Instructions for setting up your individual accts:

Log on to www.presidentialserviceawards.gov

Click on: "sign up for your volunteer record here"
Fill in all the necessary info on the page that pops up.

IMPORTANT: Once you have set up your account, you must add our "Record of Service Key" in order to be linked to our group.
Click on the "Profile" tab.
On that page there will be a box where you can enter our Record of Service Key number: SBX-7515.

Send Irene an email when you're done so that she can make sure you show up on our site.
