The Girl Scouts of Junior Troop 449
completed their Bronze Award with a project very near and
dear to their hearts.
Paulina Flores was a member of Troop
449, and, sadly, she passed away on August 29, 2007 at age
11. Paulina Flores was a remarkable young lady, and she blessed
us with her presence in so many ways. At school, Paulina instantly
found a special place in the hearts of teachers, staff, and
friends. In Girl Scouts, Paulina was an active participant
and made friends everywhere she went.
Troop
449 decided to create a garden in memory of Paulina. They
planted this garden just outside the office doors at Linda
Vista Elementary School, where the girls all went to school
and formed their friendships. Each girl scout also hand-crafted
and personalized a stepping stone which was placed in the
garden. A dedication ceremony was held on January 14, 2008
with school staff and many members of the Flores family in
attendance.
Paulina touched our hearts and souls
in so many ways. We will remember her inspiration, determination,
achievements, and love of dancing in many ways. Her image
of a neatly dressed, always fashionable, and perfectly accessorized
little girl will always make us smile. We are very thankful
for having known such a special person. We will remember Paulina
with a garden dedicated in her honor on behalf of Girl Scout
Troop 449.
Paulina, we will always remember you!
